With all the buzz around the Covid vaccine coming to the forefront, it is important to take a step back and know what really goes into your body through your skincare and makeup products. While learning how to read the ingredient list might be tricky and often sound like Green or Latin, the cosmetics industry is all for it. Because that’s how they sneak in ingredients like parabens and ammonia to all your favourite “all natural” products.

The highlight of using a product that is clean is that the ingredients are all-natural. Clean beauty substitutes harmful chemicals with its natural variants for a better, greener more nature-inspired experience of beauty. This being said, it is always a good option to know what each ingredient does to your skin. Understanding its properties can help you identify them in the product you choose to pick up.

We have put in the spotlight, a list of our top naturally-sourced ingredients used in our products.

1. Argan Oil

Extracted from the kernels of the argan tree is a cosmetic favourite ingredient that is commonly referred to as ‘Liquid Gold’.  It is abundant in Vitamin E and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, that make it one of the best ingredients to be used on the skin. Argan Oil forms a protective barrier between your skin and external agents like pollution and UV rays.

Argan Oil is one of the key ingredients in our Easy-Blend Concealers as it helps close the pores, moisturize, soothe and nourish the skin while protecting it from the sun. For oily skin,  it helps lock in the skin moisture and controls the sebum production.

2. Jojoba Oil

Made from the nut of the Jojoba plant, it is a common ingredient in skincare routines for its antibacterial, antioxidant and moisturizing properties. A rich source of beauty-boosting Vitamin A, D and E,  it has non-comedogenic characteristics which mean that it has properties that are similar to our skin’s natural oil. This prevents it from forming build-up, clogging pores thereby reducing the risk of an acne breakout.

For all of its natural goodness, Jojoba Oil makes the perfect key ingredient in our Cream Corrector. It promotes collagen synthesis on our skin to improve firmness from fresh and younger-looking skin.

3. Shea Butter

Naturally extracted from the nut of an African Shea tree, it is creamy in consistency,  high in fatty acids and vitamins, along with its anti-inflammatory and healing properties make it the best natural ingredient for soft, conditioned and toned skin. Safe for all skin types, it doesn’t make your skin oily or clog your open pores

The natural healing and emollient properties of Shea Butter make it the ideal key ingredient in our Hydra-Matte Lipstick. Your skin can soak in the rich oils in Shea Butter, creating a smooth soft barrier to lock in moisture that lasts for several hours. Perfect for matte-moisturized lips.

4. Orange Peel Oil

Obtained from cold pressing sweet Orange peels, it’s antimicrobial and absorbent properties make it suited to control excess oil production on the skin. Rich in a number of vitamins, it helps prevent acne breakouts and other skin ailments.

Infusing Orange Peel Oil in our Lip & Cheek Tint helps keep the product fresh and promotes healthy, radiant and clear skin. It’s refreshing properties blend into the skin and lips, leaving it fresh and glowing.

Always know your ingredients. It helps you pick out our products better as these ingredients each tackle a specific concern and differ in properties. Be on the lookout for products with organic certified ingredients and that match your skin type.
